Of 90 gay men surveyed, 83 responded YES to this question: "If there was a gay social networking app marketed as "the anti Grindr" would you use it?" My rough poll gave me a 92% return of men who will hop on and check it out! The next question I asked. "If yes, what would you expect to find there?" The answers to that question are the key to a startup business with wide global marketing potential. This app can serve as a community of fellowship, idea sharing, dating, etc. The men I surveyed are hungry for it. They want to start using the app...like yesterday. One problem, it doesn't exist yet!
My passion for this project comes from my own personal need to achieve a healthy self-identity. "No fems", "no fats", "no Asians, sorry just a preference", "smooth muscle masc only"... these blanket statements are what our young homosexual men experience as their welcome introduction to life as a gay man. There is not a platform for gay men to gather online and avoid the attacking environment of a hyper-sexualized application. Swipe right or left. Hot or not? How hung are you? It is time to replace these questions with real life matters that we all truly care about. In the real world friendship, love, and personal achievements are what is important to us. We are people. That is what we crave.
Come with me. Let's capitalize together in starting up what will be a social revolution!
This video describes an issue of racism in our current social app market. Racism, however, is only one of the issues we are facing. Let's brainstorm! Let's make this better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?
