Organize Social Justice Movements

Looking for: Designer, Developer

Petition websites have had enormous growth over the last number of years. Many of these petitions have been quite successful, but I feel that the internet has become saturated with online petitions. I believe that as the internet becomes more overwhelmed with online petitions, these petitions will begin to have less impact and success.

A petition has a very focused goal and often the supporters perform one or two actions; that is signing the petition and maybe sharing it with their network. A day later, they may forget they even signed the petition.

I have an idea to build a website that starts social movements with sustained activity to reach specific goal(s). The website would link people who support the same goals, provide ways to efficiently boycott those things that will help reach the movements goals, help organizers to set up strikes and demonstrations and various other features. I believe that the biggest failure of many of our social justice movements is a lack of organization, and I know this website could solve that problem.

I have purchased multiple domains for this venture:

1)       Startmovements.com/org – For those looking to start a movement.

2)       Joinmovements.com/org – For those looking to join a movement.

This site would be significantly different than petition sites and not just anyone would be able to start a movement. Imagine a website that organized all of the major social justice movements to accelerate change?

I am looking for web developers and designers who believe in making the world a better place and are willing to invest the time and money into a project that may take years to see a return on.
