It is often very distracting and dangerous for drivers following directions to constantly have to look down at their phone to see what the next step in their journey is. To counteract this problem, I'm looking to create a simple projector that attaches to the rear-view mirror and syncs to a user's 'maps' application through their smartphone. The projector will display the route information on the driver's windshield.
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, around 20% of all traffic fatalities and over 24,000 injures involve distraction by cellphone. This provides a significant a market opportunity in solving the issues of individuals that don't feel comfortable using their phones while driving, but also require the use of map applications. It would be a great purchase for people who have been involved in traffic accidents previously, and also for parents or loved ones that wish to protect their family and friends on the road. Additionally, it solves a general pain many drivers feel in having to operate their phone while simulatenously focusing on the road.
