I would like to build a platform to manage and track an employee’s aptitude and skills for a lateral move or promotion. At my last job, my manager knew about me but he didn’t necessary talk to others within the company. How are other mangers or executives supposed to know if I would be a fit for their department? Right now, they don’t.
This platform would contain a profile for each employee (similar to LinkedIn, but managed by the company/employee) to help people within the company score/rank/post about how I am helping the company in other ways.
For example, I helped a lot with marketing at our company. This was above and beyond my paid role. This platform would track and report things like that – or if a particular VP thinks highly of your skills- (s)he could post on this internal platform.
After a few years, each employee would develop a rank or general profile of their aptitude which can act as an internal tool for companies to hire and promote top people from within.
