Sexual violence is a massive and widespread societal ill that seems to be frequently swept under the rug. Because of this, many victims feel embarassed or ashamed to seek help or comfort after experiencing sexual trauma. This application will apply the concepts of cognitive behavioral therapy as well as an interdisciplinary approach to aiding victims of sexual violence in returning to their everyday lives.
This is not an application intended to replace professional psychological treatment, nor is it intended to diagnose or treat mental illness. It will, however, promote self-care and empirically supported techniques of improving mental health in order to bridge the gap between trauma and recovery. The app is especially unique in its use of gaming aspects to create a sense of escapism while promoting the real-life benefits of a productivity app.
Most victims are expected to return to work, school, and other everyday activities as soon as the day after sexual trauma occurs. Due to the personal nature of the assault, many victims will take no time at all to focus on their recovery. This application aims to support the victim during this trying time and encourage them to adopt healthy habits that will foster healing and recovery, and act as an additional tool of support in this trying time.
