There is not a social network where it's safe and inviting to share deep, potentially unpleasant feelings.
E.g. when you find out Mom has cancer and you need support you don't use Facebook (Like?) or Twitter to share the news.
Conversely, when a friend shares deep stuff digitally (text, email) it can be awkward: you may not have time to say just the right thing but you don't want to ignore the person either.
I have a prototype App solution:
- sharing is through trusted connections or anonymous.
- checkins are coded by emotion (using emoji).
- auto-replies are 'emotionally correct' in light of original checkin's emotion.
