We are two founder and looking for a third individual who is able to support us to continue with frontend design for the web application. If you are able to do proper mobile development as well this would be a bonus. We have been identified as one of the most promising startups from the Websummit team and getting supported by our local business angel network and the chamber of commerce.
Our startup is based in Germany, you should live in a radius of 2-3 hours flight time, able to work from remote office, hungry for success and a hard worker with good communication skills.
UPDATE: WE’RE NOW OFFERING A SALARY IN ADDITION TO OUR ORIGINAL EQUITY OFFER
We’re an inspiring disruptive startup in the education sector looking for 2 part-time/full-time Web Developers (a Back-End Developer and a Front-End Developer) to join our team as co-founders. In return we're offering a competitive salary + equity in the business.
Sofmor is an innovative and exciting social learning platform (to be!) aimed at university/college students. Sofmor combines some really cool concepts with the best parts of a Learning Management System (think Blackboard or Moodle) and social networks to change the way learners interact with educational content and their fellow students and educators.
We believe broadening your knowledge network leads to a more fulfilling and enhanced learning environment by exploiting the vast and varied experiences and insights of the people you share your academic life with.
We’ve got some extraordinary features and concepts in the pipeline but for the moment we’re focused on building a sophisticated yet astute Minimum Viable Product. We’ve validated the idea and developed a rock solid business model, now we’re here to disrupt the status quo and building the incredible team to do it.
Who we’re looking for
We’re seeking a Back-End Web Developer and a Front-End Web Developer to join our team and transform our wireframes to a working prototype. For this reason we’re technology agnostic but we’ll be looking to code the website in either PHP, Python or Ruby. If you’ve other commitments at the moment, you can join part-time initially with a view to go full-time once we acquire major investment.
For a comprehensive list of requirements for the roles and to apply check out sofmor.com
What we’re offering
A Competitive Salary plus Equity dependent on your skills and experience.
This position entails much more than just being a coder; you will be an integral part of the company with input in major decisions and ideally you will stay with us after the development phase.
Besides being part of an innovative product that will disrupt the market, you’ll have the technical freedom to build something from the ground up, autonomy over your work and flexible working arrangements.
Where we’re based
We’re going to be based right in the heart of tech city in East London. You can work remotely initially but we’d prefer to have you on site at launch phase.
I’m interested, so how do I join?
If you’d love to join an awesome team to revolutionize the student experience, get in touch with us (sofmor.com/contact-us). We prefer a portfolio coupled with your CV/LinkedIn but you can also send your Github/Stack-Overflow and anything else you feel is relevant.

We aim to give people back more of the most precious resource they have - time. We do this by guiding them through the process, eliminating the analytics jargon and actually analysing the data for them so we can make useful suggestions that will help them improve their business!
I'm sure most of you are probably familiar with photo tagging applications (Facebook, Instagram, etc), but what about video tagging applications? Can you think of any? Yeah, crazy huh? Hard to believe it doesn't exist - well, not to the capacity as I'm about to explain.
We're Tunedn, a patent-pending and trademarked video enhancement application that will change the way people view and interact with online video.
Our application makes it simple and easy for anyone to add media-rich tags with enhanced information about the people, products, places and things appearing in the video. And then, to share these tagged videos with friends across social media networks like Facebook.
Think of us like VH1's Popup Video, AMC's Movie Notes or a video version of Wikipedia.
People are genuinely interested in the information appearing in video; however, there are currently no standardized means for identifying this information. Tunedn provides the necessary tools to import a video from an external site (YouTube, Vimeo, DailyMotion, etc), tag the video at specific time intervals that match the content being tagged, enabling a viewer to see these tags contextually as the video plays, sharing this information with friends across social networks and embedding these enhanced videos on their own websites.
As for my own personal experience and what spawned the idea of Tunedn, a couple years back I was in the market for buying a motorcycle. I had recently watched "How To Lose A Guy in 10 Days" where Matthew McConaughey was riding a really nice looking bike. Just what I was looking for! From watching the video, I couldn't tell what type of bike it was. I ended up spending over an hour searching through Google forums until I finally arrived at my answer, a 2006 Triumph Bonneville. I called a local Triumph dealership and bought the $10,000 bike the next day. I got to thinking, "I can't be the only one that thinks like this." And apparently, I'm not (thank goodness!). How many times have you watched video and wondered "who is that actor?", "where is that scene?", "what kind of car is that?", "what kind of shoes is she wearing?", etc? Imagine having all this information available to your at your fingertips or contributing your own knowledge and/or thoughts for a community to view. Now, that's what I'm talking about!
Now, I'm sure you're probably interested in how we plan on making money. There are numerous way in which we plan to monetize our application both from a Business 2 Business (B2B) capacity as well as a Business 2 Consumer (B2C):
- Banner advertisements / sponsorships
- Pre-roll / Post-roll video ads
- A marketplace where we can connect Video Producers with Advertisers to create original videos with product placements. Advertiser will pay Tunedn for the impressions/clicks of their tags. Tunedn will pay commission to Video Producer for impressions/clicks their video delivers.
- Licensing our application to businesses (think the ESPN's of the world). Initial setup fee, monthly licensing fees and then performance fees for the impressions/clicks. This is simply an extension of their current sales channel, providing an added option to a sales reps arsenal.
- Facebook application. Our goal is to build a huge user base and sell our application to a large company that has the resources to make this commonplace for anyone watching video.
Our application makes watching video more engaging, creates way to add stickiness to a website and provides means for monetizing video.
We currently have a public beta version of the site running. It's a bit clunky, so please bear with us. I've self-funded the project and have reached a point where I need more help. Like most, my resources are limited. With your help, I can bring on the additional staff I need to dedicate themselves to building out our various applications (revised site new.tunedn.com, facebook app, mobile apps, partner portal, etc). We're in desperate need of highly talented mid-sr level php developers. So, if you know any - PLEASE LET US KNOW.
Our most immediate dev goal is to complete our Facebook application and market it to musicians, on Facebook, so that they may enhance their music videos. Musicians often have a strong fan base and fans that are very interested in the random trivia about the band, instruments being played, upcoming tour dates, etc - that could be communicated, via tags, through video. Viewers watching these enhanced videos will have the ability to install the application on their own page and begin enhancing their own videos and sharing with friends.
