Qykno | Careerspotting 4 Kids

by , on 29.06.2011

My name is Kalimah Priforce.  I am the Co-Founder of a scrappy bootstrapping education startup - Qykno Labs.  We are currently building a "Careerspotting 4 Kids" platform called Qykno.

Qykno inspires kids to be socially mobile by discovering and playing their career interests.  Qykno crowdsources content and professionals using "Careercards" that empower kids (13-17) to complete activity-based missions, play games, and earn badges.

After a Careercard is unlocked, users gain access to its exclusive social club where they can win prizes, scholarships, internships, and gain chances to meet their virtual mentor - all on a safe ubiquitous platform accessible behind school filters.

Qykno as a career literacy tool is our small but scale-able approach to the BIG problem of student motivation and engagement in and outside the classroom.

The first content channel released with our launch will be STEM4Girls, followed by Mission to Mars, Let's Move, 2012 Vote America, Dirty Jobs, and Unnatural Disasters.

We're putting up this post because we are in the process of building an advisory board in time for our demo day on August 4th at Kapor Capital in San Francisco through the NewME Accelerator for minority-led startups.
